Steinmeyer, pictured with his 18-year old son, Sam, is the proud
owner of Clatonia’s newest business. Still located in Maryville,
Missouri, Gene will bring his sports business called Malika Sport
Tours to Legendary Travel.
is a 1968 graduate of Wilber-Clatonia High School. He was in
education for 39 years, 28 of those as a college women’s basketball
coach. In 1983, he coached the Wilber-Clatonia girls’ team to a
Class C state championship. During his college coaching career, four
times his teams played in the Final Four, three at Doane University
and one at Northwest Missouri State University.
2002, Gene and one of his former Doane players, Marissa Maaske, have
run Malika Sport Tours. College teams book with Malika Sport Tours
for basketball, soccer and golf events in Hawaii. After retiring
from coaching in 2012, Gene has run the business by himself. During
those seven years, Gene has worked out of Maryville Travel, a
full-service travel agency in Maryville, Missouri. Gene’s
specialty is travel to Hawaii but can help with any of your travel
and Gene bring a wealth of experience as they open the latest
business in Clatonia inspired by the innovations of Ron Tegemeier,
